How Am I Gonna Get My Male Cat To Be Nice To My New Female Kitten?

I'm getting a Female kitten in about a week and at the moement i have a vicious male cat, He Scratches Me, Pounces On Me, When U Stroke Him He'll Start Wagging His Tale he's just EVIL!!! and i dont no if u bites because if i touch him he'll scratch me! he's not neutered but we are planning 2 get him neutered just after we get the kitten. My friend told me that they wont like eachother for a few days/weeks and then they'll eventually get used 2 eachother but her first cat was a normal, good cat where as MY cat is evil! he'll scratch the kittens eyes out! how am i gonna get my vicious little brat to get used to my new - soon 2 be mine- kitten?
